Resolve Commercial

Commercial problems need commercial solutions

Stuart Delmonte discussing a practical debt resolution with a client

An unpaid invoice may appear straightforward.

Often, it is not.

The debtor may be avoiding payment. They may dispute the work. They may be under financial pressure. They may have the ability to pay but lack the intention. They may be insolvent. There may be a wider commercial problem sitting behind the debt.

Resolve does not begin with assumptions.

We begin by establishing the facts.

We review the background, speak directly to the parties involved and determine the most practical route forward.

That may be immediate payment, a negotiated settlement, structured payment terms or a wider commercial solution.

The aim is not simply to make noise.

The aim is to get the best achievable result.

What Resolve does

Recover overdue commercial debts

We pursue payment of legitimate commercial debts and seek the strongest realistic outcome.

Establish why payment has stalled

We review the history, communication and commercial background before deciding how the matter should be handled.

Engage directly with the debtor

We speak to the debtor, test the explanations given and establish whether payment is possible.

Negotiate settlements

Where immediate payment is unlikely, we may negotiate a reduced settlement or structured payment arrangement.

Identify financial distress

Where the debtor is under serious pressure or potentially insolvent, we identify this early rather than wasting time pursuing an unrealistic outcome.

Consider wider commercial options

Some debts are part of a larger business problem.

Where appropriate, Resolve may identify restructuring, asset, funding or other commercial issues that should be considered separately.

Not every debt needs a legal battle

Legal action may sometimes be necessary.

But it should not be the automatic first move.

Court proceedings cost time and money. They can damage commercial relationships and may still produce little value where the debtor has no ability to pay.

Resolve focuses first on intelligence, engagement and leverage.

The better we understand the debtor’s position, the better the decision we can make.

“The first question is not simply, ‘Why haven’t you paid?’
It is, ‘What is actually happening, and what can realistically be done?’”
